Don’t honor Columbus, who’s killer, thief
The Gazette Opinion Staff

In 1492, Christopher Columbus “found” North America. At first, he thought of gold and silver; after taking all the native people had, he went after farmland and to get it he killed native people. Those not killed were enslaved to work on his farms.
This man should not have a day. He is a sore spot with American Indians who feel he started what would become a flood of killing white men out to take our land.
