Fox News stronger, more malignant
Oct. 8, 2009 12:37 am
On “Meet The Press” last month, former President Bill Clinton said the vast right wing conspiracy that sought to destroy him and his wife is not as strong as it was but remains as malignant as ever. He's wrong - it is stronger and more malignant than ever. We can see it relentlessly using the same smear tactics against President Barack Obama.
Fox News Channel didn't exist during Clinton's first term. Back then, videotapes still had to be circulated by mail order, such as “The Clinton Chronicles,” a “documentary” that accused Clinton of being involved in international bank fraud, cocaine smuggling and multiple murders. The same organizations and operatives behind the Clinton smears, financed by right-wing billionaires, are now actively spreading outright lies about Obama.
The right wing reminds me more and more of terrorists, cheering for America itself to fail. Republicans and conservatives say they stand for individual rights and liberty but fail to see the irony of being told how to act, what to think and what to say on a daily basis by millionaire propagandists like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck, and billionaires Rupert Murdoch, owner of Fox News Channel and the Wall Street Journal, and Richard Mellon Scaife, investor in Newsmax.
