Letterman actions differ from politician’s

David Letterman is an entertainer - a clown - not a cleric or self-moralizing conservative politician.
As Washington Post TV critic Tom Shales wrote, Letterman's antics are different from those of the Republican legislator “who ranted and railed against homosexuals, and worked to deny them the right to marry and other civil privileges - and then was caught soliciting anonymous sex in an airport men's room.”
Letterman was unmarried until very recently (March) and since no one involved has complained, we can assume his affairs were between consenting adults. He stood up and did the right thing instead of paying money to his alleged blackmailer. Does anyone really believe that an extortionist goes away with just one payment?
Letterman is a charming, very funny man. He pokes fun at himself nearly as often as he pokes fun about other public figures. His private life is none of my business or yours.
