Phifer - Johnston

NEW YORK CITY, NY­ - Tamsyn Phifer and Brannan Johnston, both of New York City, announce their engagement.

Tamsyn is the daughter of James and Linnie Phifer of Cedar Rapids. Brannan is the son of Dr. James and Elta Johnston of Jackson, MS.

Tamsyn received a B.A. in History from Colorado College in 1998. An M.A in 2001, M.A.Ed. in 2002 and in 2009 a Doctorate of Higher Education Administration from Teachers College at Columbia University. She is employed by City University of New York as a research fellow. Brannan received a B.A. in Economics from Princeton University in 1998, and an M.B.A. in Finance from Wharton School of Business in 2006. He is employed by the Carlyle Group, where he is a Principal and head of operations for the Global Leveraged Finance group.

The Reverend Nan DeVries will preside over the 4 p.m. ceremony on June 12, 2010 at the First Congregational Church. A reception will be held at Pleasant Hill/Cedar Rapids Country Club.
