C.R. PRAIRIE at CLINTON (4A)
Time & place: 7 p.m., at Clinton
Records: Prairie is 3-6; Clinton is 9-0.
Notable: Clinton is the champion of the Mississippi Athletic Conference and outscored its opposition by an average of 44.1-8.3. David Johnson rushed for 1,159 yards and 25 touchdowns. Prairie enters the postseason with five straight losses; the Hawks managed just 43 yards of offense last week against Cedar Rapids Xavier.
PLEASANT VALLEY at C.R. XAVIER (4A)
Time & place: 7 p.m., at Saints Field
Records: Pleasant Valley is 5-4; Xavier is 7-2.
Notable: Xavier is red-hot and dangerous as the postseason begins; the Saints have won six straight games, including Friday's 35-0 rout of Cedar Rapids Prairie, yielding just 43 yards of offense. The Spartans lost three of their last four games.
BURLINGTON at LINN-MAR (4A)
Time & place: 7 p.m., at Armstrong Field
Records: Burlington is 4-5; Linn-Mar is 8-1.
Notable: Linn-Mar, which endured winless seasons in 2006 and 2007, has ascended quickly. The Lions claimed the MVC Valley Division title. Jer Garman scored 30 touchdowns, rushing for 1,625 yards. Burlington started 1-4, then won three of its last four games.
C.R. KENNEDY at BETTENDORF (4A)
Time & place: 7 p.m., at Bettendorf
Records: Kennedy is 4-5; Bettendorf is 8-1.
Notable: Perennial power Bettendorf was the MAC runner-up. Dylan Jones passed for 994 yards and 11 touchdowns. Kennedy's Max Martino has caught 45 passes for 531 yards. The Cougars allowed just 20 points in their last three games.
NORTH SCOTT at C.R. WASHINGTON (4A)
Time & place: 7 p.m., at Kingston Stadium
Radio: KGYM-AM (1600)
Records: North Scott is 5-4; Washington is 7-2.
Notable: Washington carries a five-game win streak, and the Warriors have scored 40 points or more in each game through that streak. Andre Dawson has rushed for 1,656 yards - the most by a 4A running back - and 25 TDs. North Scott's Aaron Huber has rushed for 836 yards; Cody Manthe has passed for 1,180 yards and 11 TDs.
IOWA CITY WEST at IOWA CITY HIGH (4A)
Time & place: 7 p.m., at Bates Field, Iowa City
Records: West is 3-6; City High is 9-0.
Notable: No. 1 City High recorded a 49-10 win over the Trojans in Week 4 in the annual Battle for the Boot. University of Iowa recruit A.J. Derby shines on both sides of the ball. He has passed for 11 touchdowns, rushed for 11 more. West sophomore Charles Rogers has rushed for 743 yards, passed for 625.
WEST DELAWARE at MARION (3A)
Time & place: 7 p.m., at Thomas Park Field
Records: West Delaware is 7-2; Marion is 9-0.
Notable: These teams met in the same round last year, with the Hawks winning convincingly, 35-2. Marion's Logan Pickering is second amond 3A scorers with 166 points. West Delaware's Brandon Domeyer has rushed for 1,135 yards. The Hawks tied for second in their district but drew the No. 4 seed due to the 13-point tie-breaker.
MAQUOKETA at DECORAH (3A)
Time & place: 7 p.m., at Decorah
Records: Both teams are 7-2.
Notable: Last year's state runner-up, Decorah is back in the postseason after finishing second in its district. The Vikings have held six of their nine opponents to 10 points or less. Maquoketa has lost two straight after starting 7-0, including a 40-0 defeat Friday at Union.
WEST BURLINGTON-ND at I.C. REGINA (2A)
Time & place: 7 p.m., at Regina
Records: WB-ND is 6-3; Regina is 8-1.
Notable: Regina relies on a defense that has held the opposition to 13 points or less in every game but one. Kevin Arnold has 74 tackles, three fumble recoveries and three interceptions to his credit. WB-ND is a pass-oriented squad; Taylor Newland has passed for 1,458 yards and 15 TDs.
CENTER POINT-URBANA at MID-PRAIRIE (2A)
Time & place: 7 p.m., at Wellman
Records: CPU is 6-3; Mid-Prairie is 7-2.
Notable: Mid-Prairie is coming off a big second half in which it turned a 7-7 tie into a 47-7 win over West Burlington-Notre Dame. Tanner Miller has rushed for 1,556 yards and 21 TDs. CPU's Dylan Ramsey has rushed for 880 yards.
STARMONT at BELLE PLAINE (1A)
Time & place: 7 p.m., at Belle Plaine
Records: Starmont is 6-3; Belle Plaine is 7-2.
Notable: Belle Plaine claimed second in its district with a 55-36 win over Eddyville-Blakesburg on Friday. The Plainsmen don't have a 1,000-yard rusher, but have three with 681 or more. Vinnie Otdoerfer is the featured back for the Stars, with 1,015 yards.
