City must do better at reassuring flood victims

An Oct. 16 article titled “Survey: C.R. doing well except for downtown” states that 603 people were called to do this survey. Were any of these flood victims? The city has not acted in a very timely fashion in providing a flood wall near the river so homes and/or businesses will not be flooded again.
The city has not done enough to attract new jobs by reassuring the public that there will not be another flood occurring like the flood of 2008 (without more protection). Will anyone come in if there is a chance of that happening again?
Why is it safe to build a new courthouse by the Cedar River but the library has to move?
I hope that in January 2010, leadership will come forth and things will be accomplished for all and decisions will be made - like what to do with buildings such as the City Hall (in Veterans Memorial Building) and the Ground Transportation Center. It is very difficult for people with disabilities to ride the city bus and have the restrooms at Lot 44 located in FEMA trailers. which are not handicapped accessible.
