Politics should have nothing to do with Bible
The Gazette Opinion Staff

I guess that I read a different Bible than a lot of liberals or maybe conservatives.
To call Jesus the ultimate liberal because he was executed by the government for protesting the establishment is pure religious ignorance. Jesus and his disciples taught that he was born to die for our sins, not for some political reason.
Politics has nothing to do with the reasons for Jesus' death. Jesus taught that we were supposed to help each other out personally, not put some big government bureaucracy in charge of people. What he fought the Jewish leaders on was their strict following of rules and laws and lack of personal discretion. He taught personal responsibility, not being dependent on any political structure or government - only on God.
My opinion is if Jesus was alive today, he would be kicked out of any liberal party for his beliefs. My Bible describes Jesus as believing that a fetus is a person, marriage is between a man and a woman, sex outside of marriage is a sin, and preaching about God in public. Sure he is forgiving, but he also said sin no more. Many like to forget that he also taught that you will be punished if you do not follow the laws of God.
I would like to see any liberal recite the Ten Commandments in public as a way to live, let alone as God's laws to be followed.
