Iowa Athletics Director discusses possible media bias plus Big Ten bowl budgets
Nov. 5, 2009 5:47 pm
Iowa Athletics Director Gary Barta said he doesn't think national media has slighted his 9-0 football team and the current Bowl Championship Series system will work regardless of the outcome.
"We've done everything that we've needed to do," Barta said. "Hat's off to Kirk and the guys, they've certainly persevered through challenges. But no, I don't feel slighted.
"I think at the end of the year we'll see where it shakes out. I'm confident if we do our part, I think things will work out the way they're supposed to."
Barta wasn't specific if the system would work by putting a possible 12-0 Iowa team into the BCS National Championship or the Rose Bowl.
"I can tell you honestly I haven't even worried about it or thought about it," he said. "Every week seems like it's going to be a wild ride and close game. Even as an athletic director, certainly coaches go at it one game at a time, and Kirk does a great job of coaching our student-athletes to go at it one game at a time. Well, he's convinced his athletic director to just think about it one game at a time."
Barta and his staff are discussing bowl logistics, just not the location. Here's a look at the bowl ticket requirements and bowl budgets for Big Ten:
