Suspect sought in rural Linn County burglary, assault

Officials are looking for a man suspected of burglarizing a rural Linn County home and assaulting the homeowner Thursday morning.

Linn County Sheriff's deputies were called to 2934 Linn-Jones Road, just north of Highway 151, at about 11:18 a.m. Thursday. A woman at the home said she had been assaulted by a man after she had confronted him in a detached garage.

The woman, who was treated for her injuries at a local hospital, described the man as a white man in his mid-30s. Officials said it's believed he left the scene in an older, smaller, light blue, standard-cab pickup without a topper.

It's not believed the public is at risk from the incident, officials said. Anyone with information on the suspect or his vehicle is asked to contact the Linn County Sheriff's Office at 892-6100.
