We should be proud of Nobel-winning president

In his Nov. 7 letter, “Obama disobeyed oath in accepting gift,” Ed Dolan says that our Constitution prohibits President Obama from accepting the $1.4 million that goes along with what Mr. Dolan insultingly calls the “Ignoble Peace Prize.”
First, Obama isn't the first sitting president to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, he's the third. The first two were Theodore Roosevelt (1906) and Woodrow Wilson (1919). Second, the president will be donating the $1.4 million to charity. Problem solved.
As Americans, we should take pride in this award. It would be rude to refuse an honor that the world has freely and graciously bestowed on us. I agree with John McCain who said that all Americans should be proud when our president receives an award of this caliber.
