U.S. should work with U.N. to protect citizens

Through the United Nations, almost all countries in the world can work at such problems as stopping al-Qaida from terrorizing governments and their people. Why do we step out with such little support?
The U.N. has a police force set up to stop them. Let's make this better known and supported more fully by all the countries. The United States is finally paying up its dues and supporting the U.N. better so it can better reach its humanitarian, environmental, education, health, policing and protection goals.
Let's work through the U.N. instead of trying to police the world. Diplomacy works; war doesn't.
Join me in contacting our representatives in congress and urge them to begin work on this. Also, do you know we have a local branch of the United Nations here in Linn County? Come to a monthly meeting and share your concerns, learn more about world concerns and help these causes.
