Hlas' Top 25 ballot for Week 11 - TCU No. 3, Alabama No. 4
Mike Hlas Nov. 15, 2009 11:33 am
Oh yeah. Mr. Brave swapped out Alabama for TCU at No. 3.
Why? Because TCU has beaten just as many teams I think are good as 'Bama has, and TCU has destroyed them. This isn't about style points. It's about having a wicked good team. TCU has one.
The ballot:
1. Florida. Winning at South Carolina counts for something.
2. Texas. Can really screw up the BCS for Iowa if it loses the Big 12 title game to some Big 12 North afterthought.
3. TCU
4. Alabama
5. Cincinnati. Was given a good scare by West Virginia Friday night, but winners win.
6. Boise State. It's not playing anyone, but when it did, it controlled the current Pac-10 leader, Oregon.
7. Georgia Tech. Quietly having a terrific year.
8. Ohio State. Deprived tens of thousands of Iowans of a trip to southern California in late December. Including moi. Thanks a lot, Devin Barclay.
9. Pittsburgh. Who said Dave Wannstedt couldn't coach?
10. Oregon. I think the Ducks will beat Ohio State in Pasadena.
11. Stanford. Three losses, but all on the road and close games. The way the Cardinal decimated Oregon and USC in successive weeks is remarkable. OK, it didn't decimate Oregon, but it did hang 51 on the Ducks. Running back Toby Gerhart is my Heisman Trophy guy, end of story.
12. LSU. I haven't been sold on this team and still am not. Whoever gets these guys in the Capital One Bowl will beat them.
13. Iowa. Vandy is dandy.
14. Wisconsin. Let Michigan hang around for a while, then lowered the boom. Hey Michigan, Jim Harbaugh isn't a hard man to find.
15. Penn State. The best team the Nittany Lions have beaten is Temple.
16. Oklahoma State. Showed some mettle in holding off Texas Tech.
17. Oregon State. The Oregon State-Oregon game on Dec. 3 could be for a Rose Bowl.
18. Virginia Tech. Some bowl will be proud to have the Hokies.
19. Rutgers. Knights gave South Florida its first shutout in 13 years of Division I-A play.
20. California. A 3-loss team in the Pac-10 means you're pretty good. That's the best league in the land.
21. Nebraska. It's winner-take-all in Big 12 North Saturday when Huskers host Kansas State.
22. North Carolina. Beat Miamai.
23. Miami. Lost to North Carolina.
24. Temple. Eight straight wins. Owlmania is running wild.
25. Navy. Another year of at least eight wins for the Middies.
It's a good time to be the Stanford Tree
