U.S. wasted millions on marijuana fight

I read where the American Medical Association urged the federal government to reconsider its classification of marijuana as a dangerous drug. How many millions of dollars are being spent (wasted) by the government fighting the deadly drug marijuana?
Any drug that makes a person smile should not be illegal.
