A pit bull had to be shocked twice before he stopped attacking a woman Friday morning.
Police said they were called to 4000 Johnson Ave. NW, Apt. B, at 9:45 a.m. where the dog was attacking Sherry McDonald, 47, whose address was not available.
An officer used a Taser gun on the dog - a device that supplies an electrical shock for 5 seconds. After being shocked, the dog let go of the woman. As soon as the shock stopped, though, the dog went after the woman and was again shocked for 5 seconds.
The dog then went and sat in the corner, police said. The animal was turned over to animal control.
Sgt. Joe Clark said police were called to the same apartment on Thursday when the dog was growling and barking at the woman. Police put the dog in a bedroom and closed the door.
The dog is owned by a man who lives in the apartment, Clark said. McDonald, who is a friend, was taken to the doctor by private vehicle with lacerations to her arm, he said.
