Karr's leadership drives supporter to write in
Nov. 29, 2009 12:30 am
I typically do not discuss my voting preferences and I never before have written a letter to the editor in support of one candidate over another. But my decision to support Don Karr is one I am happy to share with others.
I met Don Karr 18 months ago. Don immediately impressed me as a leader; he has an unassuming but charismatic style. I've learned to respect Don's experience and I value his perspective. Don represents what is best about community consciousness.
He demonstrated his concern about the community before the June 2008 flood. Since that event, Don has inspired others as he rolled up his sleeves and got to work. He's parlayed his experience on city committees, applied his business sensibility and has described his deep love for a city he calls home as a call to action for others.
One of Don's greatest attributes has been the ability to identify, in a common sense way, an approach that will get others moving toward a common goal.
I believe Don will be proactive in serving the best interests of the community, work in conjunction with the mayor elect and other city council members, engage in fiscally responsible decision making and continue to encourage others to unite in building a stronger community.
