Mayor-elect Corbett 'robo-calls' for McGrane in tight District 3 runoff
Nov. 30, 2009 5:52 pm
Mayor-elect Ron Corbett is supporting Jerry McGrane over Pat Shey in the District 3 runoff election on Tuesday that pits one current council member against another.
Corbett's endorsement is being sent via telephone “robo-call” to constituents in District 3, which comprises parts of southeast, southwest and northwest Cedar Rapids.
In his taped endorsement, Corbett says McGrane is against building a new, $50-million City Hall and is for a “buy-local” resolution. Corbett also notes that McGrane is a flood victim and has flood victims' interests at heart.
McGrane, 70, is the current District 3 council member and Shey, 50, an at-large council member, decided to take McGrane on for the district seat.
