WATERLOO (AP) - A 22-year-old man could face charges after he barricaded himself and his mother in their apartment for more than one hour and police used tear gas to flush him out.
Police say Adam Jacobsen barricaded himself in the apartment shortly before 4:15 p.m. on Monday, when they received a complaint. Jacobsen's mother was able to escape the apartment unhurt.
At about 5:30 p.m., police fired three to four rounds tear gas into the apartment. Jacobsen came out a short time later.
Police say Jacobsen will face a mental evaluation at a local hospital, and say charges are pending.
