Fort Hood killings were terrorist attack

The writer of a Nov. 14 letter, “Fort Hood attack displays tragedy of war,” writer has missed the point. The writer states that there is a mystery about the Fort Hood shootings. In my opinion, there is no mystery. It's a clear as day that this is another Sept. 11 attack on our country by a radical Islamist intent on killing innocent Americans. I don't know why it hasn't happened before and fear that it will now happen more frequently.
We didn't start this war. The worst part is, if we weren't aware that a group of jihadists were training in this country under our very noses to attack us, how hard is it going to be to find and stop individuals plotting similar attacks?
The writer also states that she was unaware of the “immensity of the installation,” referring to the size of the post at Fort Hood. The writer doesn't understand what it takes to run the greatest military in the world. “What do we have to show for it?” she asks. The freedom that we experience every day in this country.
