Stay off problem roadways in Cedar Rapids

City plowing crews will be working around the clock, making sure that main arterial ways are passable and that by morning, residential areas will have been cleared.
Public Works Maintenance Manager Craig Hanson said that despite the full-commitment from his employees and equipment, certain city roads are likely to be completely covered or impassable until the winds die down tomorrow night.
If you have to drive, Hanson said to stay away from roads on the edges of the city. These locations, historically, are the most problematic in blizzard conditions:
Southwest
Any bridges over the Cedar River
-Edgewood Road around Glass Road
-Edgewood Road near Wright Brothers Road
-Portions of C Street
-Portions of Wright Brothers Road
-Portions of Kirkwood Boulevard
-Subdivisions off of Highway 30, east of C-Street and Old Ely Road
-Sixth Street
-Portions of 26th Street
Northwest
- E Avenue
- Rock Valley Road
- F Avenue and Covington Road
- Ellis Road and Covington Road
- Seminole Valley Road
- Mustang Road
Southeast
-Portions of Otis Road
-East Post Road
