Careful: Ice may still be thin in areas
Though ice should be thick enough for skating and ice fishing on area waterways this weekend, be careful.
Fire crews have noted ice is thin in places and is now insulated with a heavy snow blanket, which is slowing freezing and thickening, Cedar Rapids Fire Department spokesman Greg Buelow said on Friday.
He offered the caution, “so people don't get a false sense of security about the ice.”
