$1.5-million bid in to rehab First Avenue East from 17th Street to Cottage Grove Avenue

The city is moving ahead with plans to replace the sanitary sewer along First Avenue East from 17th Street SE to Cottage Grove Avenue SE and to repave that section of First Avenue East.
On Dec. 10, bids were open on the project with only one firm bidding to do the project work.
The bid from L.L. Pelling Co., Inc., North Liberty, was $1.532 million. This compares to the engineer's cost estimate for the project of $1.525 million.
The city staff is now reviewing the bid before City Council action on it.
