Why is Washington doing what it’s doing?

I have a few questions. First - what is the hurry for this health care reform to be passed? The last I heard, the health care in this country was second to none. Why “reform” it?
Second, because a politician does nothing but that which will get him re-elected, what is in this for the crowd in D.C. when it appears that the majority of Americans do not want or understand this frantic push?
Third - whose harebrained idea was this farce called cap and trade? Does anyone really think this will help future Americans?
Fourth - is anyone paying attention to the value-added tax proposed by the White House?
Now if anyone in Washington would like to answer these questions for me without spouting political correctness or some other such garbage, I'd be interested.
