Remember and assist our troops this holiday
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Dec. 22, 2009 11:03 pm
The president just agreed to send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan. As we all sit at home this holiday season, remember that our heroes are thousands of miles from home or waiting to protect us from the evils of the world. Please take a second to reflect on that and help out any way you can. Whether it be write a letter, donate a buck, put together a care package, thank a military member, post a thought on the cause or say a prayer, these things are important to our military members.
If you're in our armed services, God bless you and may you get home soon. Know that there are a great many individuals who have not forgotten what you do for our country. Stay safe, and know that we will welcome you home with open arms.
Remember, 3,500 of those troops will be leaving from right here in Iowa and we need all the support we can get to help them and their families with the transition.
