Israel/Palestine conflict consequences reach far
The Gazette Opinion Staff

I implore the guest columnist on Dec. 19, and others of like mindset to re-examine the often-stated, undisputable facts of the genesis of the problems in the Middle East.
Anti-semitic lessons of Holocaust and Diaspora (a centuries-old disbursement to all points of the globe) taught Jews they needed a strong, united nation in order to survive in peace. In 1948, 88 member nations of the United Nations voted in favor of a legal petition to establish the territory of Palestine, including all its inhabitants, as the sovereign nation of Israel.
In defiance of the United Nations, surrounding nations, themselves refusing to open their borders to those who preferred not to participate in the new nation, declared a separate territory of Palestine as a buffer state from which to launch their campaign to annihilate Israel. Flourishing as a shining beacon of democracy, civilization and humanitarianism, Israel has endured unprovoked and murderous attacks.
Why is this just Israel's fight? The Utopian peaceful interests of the entire world may be well-served by extracting “honest accountability” from jihadist fanatic terrorists and annihilists. That's the simple solution for which all should pray and support.
