Obama bashers being hypocritical on terror
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Republicans are playing politics again with the issue of terrorism.
Karl Rove, Dick Cheney and others slammed President Obama for taking three days to speak out about the recent attempt by a man to bring down an airliner with explosives hidden in his underwear. They also say it is not appropriate for the suspect to be tried in a standard American court, and the fact that Obama would even consider that instead of a military tribunal shows he doesn't understand the threat of terrorism.
They're also saying that Bush kept us “safe” after 9/11, apparently forgetting the shoe bomber and the anthrax attacks.
A few years ago, when their guy George Bush was president, a man tried to blow up a plane with an explosive in his shoes. It took then-president Bush six days to comment on the attempt, about which he said very little. Eventually, the shoe bomber was tried and convicted in a standard American courtroom. He is currently serving a life sentence in an American prison with no possibility of parole.
If we can handle a shoe bomber, we can handle an underwear bomber, can't we?
