Former Hawkeyes C.J. Beathard and George Kittle connected on an 82-yard touchdown for the San Francisco 49ers Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Quarterback Beathard and tight end Kittle played together for the Iowa Hawkeyes for four years and both were drafted by the 49ers in 2017.
The play was the longest from scrimmage in an NFL game this season.
Beathard, who became San Francisco's starter this week after Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a season-ending knee injury last week, completed 23 of 37 passes for 298 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Kittle caught a team-high six passes for 125 yards.
The Chargers (2-2) beat the 49ers (1-3) on Caleb Sturgis' 21-yard field goal with 7:41 to go, 29-27.
