Fire destroys Butler County home

A Butler County family is without a home this morning after a fire Sunday night.

The fire destroyed the home at 714 Third St. in Dumont, about 45 miles northwest of Waterloo.

Firefighters were first called to the scene shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday.

Authorities say they don't know what caused the fire, but that no one was injured.

The Red Cross is helping the displaced family.
