The first set of opening round duals of the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals has been completed.
In the Division I bracket, Iowa def. Nebraska, 33-3, winning nine of 10 bouts. The Cornhuskers lone win came at 197 where Craig Brester won by major over Luke Lofthouse, who is filling in for injured Chad Beatty. Iowa will face Boise State in the quarterfinals. Boise State handled Buffalo in its opener.
Iowa State leads Bloomsburg, 35-7, entering the final match at Hwt. Kyle Simonson is wrestling in place of All-American David Zabriskie.
Maryland leads UNI, 19-6, after 174.
In Div.-III, Luther and Wartburg both won, setting up a quarterfinal dual between the two IIAC schools. The winner will like face top-ranked and top-seeded Wisconsin-La Crosse, coached by former UNI wrestlers and Wartburg assistant coach Dave Malecek (a former C.R. Regis/LaSalle/Xavier coach). Luther beat #5 seed Wis.-Stevens Point, while #4 Wartburg beat Johnson & Wales. Wis-LaCrosse beat IIAC's University of Dubuque, to advance to the second round.
