Providing good health care ‘right’ thing to do
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jan. 12, 2010 11:50 pm
It is clearly immoral to resist decent health care as a basic human right. It is also shortsighted, as it will, in the big picture, save money, make us more competitive and create jobs - good jobs. However, it is something we need to do, because it is right.
As Martin Luther King, Jr. said; “Cowardice asks the question, ‘Is it safe?' Expediency asks the question, ‘Is it politic?' But conscience asks the question, ‘Is it right?' And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but because conscience tells one it is right.” We must not let cowardice or politics overrule our conscience as a great nation.
