UPDATE - Apparently the campaign reports are a bit messed up. You have to combine two separate reports to get the full numbers. Click here and go toward the end of the post to see the correct number.
IOWA CITY - Democrat Janelle Rettig has outraised and outspent her rivals for Tuesday's Johnson County supervisor special election.
Rettig brought in more than $17,500 cash and spent $14,829. Click here to see the report.
Republican Lori Cardella received cash contributions of $4,906 and spent $1,616. She received another $9,863 in in-kind contributions, almost all of it from herself and her husband for campaign materials. Click here to see her report.
One thing to note is that Rettig declared herself a candidate for the regular 2010 supervisors election several months before she was appointed to the Board of Supervisors. Her report reflects all those contributions that came in before the special election was declared and prior to Cardella becoming a candidate.
The deadline to file reports with the Iowa Ethics & Campaign Disclosure Board is 4:30 p.m. today.
Independent Jim Knapp had not filed as of 10:55a.m., although it's very unlikely he'll come anywhere near the numbers of Rettig and Cardella.
