Florida license plates a ‘big deal’

At a recent candidates' forum, Lori Cardella admitted to having Florida license plates on her car. No big deal, right? Of course, Iowa law states that vehicles must be registered within 30 days of establishing residence in Iowa. The Road Trust Tax Fund depends on the money it deposits from these registrations (more than $430 million in fiscal year 2007) to keep Iowa roads safe and available to its drivers.
It is a big deal, especially when Ms. Cardella seeks elected office to the Johnson County Board of Supervisors. How can she serve the residents of Johnson County when she doesn't respect one of the state's most basic laws? How can she serve if she hasn't paid her fair share of road-care upkeep?
Please vote for Janelle Rettig. She's lived in Johnson County for more than 19 years. She's an advocate for good land use, human rights for everyone and fiscal responsibility. Her desire to continually learn as much as she can to provide the best answers is infectious. Her manner invites active participation. She believes people should work together to reach sensible goals.
Her car has Iowa license plates.
