DECORAH (AP) - A graduate of Luther College who died in the earthquake in Haiti is being remembered as a lover of music who was passionate about missionary work.
Ben Larson was in Haiti with his wife and cousin with the Evangelical Lutheran Church. His wife and cousin escaped from a building in Port-au-Prince, but Larson was trapped in the building.
The 25-year-old's body hasn't been recovered since the Jan. 12 quake.
On Friday, students, staff and family attended a service in Decorah to remember Larson. The Rev. Mike Blair says singing hymns at the service reminded him of Larson.
Larson sang in choir for four years at Luther and was president of the choir his senior year.
Larson was studying to become a minister at the Wartburg Theological Seminary.
