Carey, Plattner noted in IIAC honors

Central wrestler Tommy Van Renterghem was named IIAC Athlete of the Week for his 4-0 performance at Saturday's Iowa Conference Duals held at Small Mutli-Sports Arena in Mount Vernon. Two other area wrestlers received mention for their performances without formal honors.
Coe 149-Mark Carey was 3-0 at the Iowa Conference Duals that were held at Wartburg in Waverly. Among those wins was a one-point decision over Wartburg's No. 4 Jacob Groth.
Luther heavyweight Allyn Plattner was one of two Norse who went undefeated at the IIAC Duals hosted by Cornell. Plattner went 4-0, recording falls in each of his wins.

• Wrestling –Coe senior 149-pounder Mark Carey(Raytown, Mo./South posted three wins, two by fall, at the Iowa Conference duals Jan. 23 at Waverly. His 6-5 win over fourth-ranked Jacob Groth of Wartburg helped the Kohawks in holding the Knights to their closest dual against an IIAC foe since a 24-18 win over Loras Nov. 28, 2001.
• Wrestling – Luther senior heavyweight
Allyn Plattner(Sabetha, Kan./Sabetha) posted four wins, all by fall, at the Iowa Conference duals. Two of Plattner's opponents made it out of the first period, and only one of those made it to the third.
