Cedar Rapids Prairie wins girls’ state bowling title

WATERLOO - Cedar Rapids Prairie put three girls in the top 10 and won the Class 3A state bowling title Wednesday at Cadillac Lanes.
The Hawks topped Muscatine, 3103-3004, for the team title.
Senior Mikayla Hite finished second in the individual race with a score of 473, 22 pins behind champion Natalie Leach of Dubuque Hempstead. Prairie junior Ashley Sundstrom finished fifth at 430 and senior Emily Hartgrave tied for eighth at 412.
Cedar Rapids Jefferson junior Megan Kitzmiller tied Hartgrave at 412.
In the boys' race, Prairie finished eighth with a score of 2945. Southeast Polk was the champion at 3210.
Kennedy senior Max Hiatt finished seventh with a score of 566. Freshman Zach Bianchi of Southeast Polk won the individual crown with a 504. Prairie's top bowler, junior Shawn Wille, rolled a 436.
