Corporations have taken over our governement
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jan. 29, 2010 11:48 pm
We the People are getting clobbered. Corporations have corrupted our government. They own our government.
While the media keeps distracting us by talking about Democrats vs. Republicans and Tea Partiers vs. socialists, our democracy, or what is left of it, is being chewed up and spit out by the richest one-half of one percent.
What most people don't realize is that, in the eyes of the people controlling the country, things couldn't be better. High unemployment lets them drive down the salaries and benefits of ordinary workers. Bonuses at the boardroom level are as good as ever. They are getting paid enough in one year to live a lifetime, so there is no downside to the company-killing decisions they are making.
And now our Supreme Court officially hands Congress over to corporate America. I wouldn't be surprised to see America led by a dictator within 10 years.
