Iowa rally falls short vs. Illinois

Three times in the last four minutes Iowa trimmed Illinois' lead to three points, but the Hawkeyes couldn't get past their rivals from Champaign, Ill.
Illinois (15-8, 7-3) pulled ahead with several clutch free throws in the final minutes to win 57-49 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena tonight. Iowa falls to 8-15 (2-8 Big Ten).
Matt Gatens led Iowa with 12 points, while Jarryd Cole scored 10 points. Demetri McCamey scored 15 points to lead Illinois.
