Firefighters respond to barn fire in Kalona

Firefighters had to handle two fires at the same pole barn Monday night and Tuesday morning.
At around 10:38 p.m., firefighters from Kalona, Wellman and Riverside responded to a structure fire at 1962 140
th
St. outside of Kalona. The barn belonged to Kevin an Judy Christiansen, and fire officials say that everything inside the building was a total loss.
The fire started back up at around 7:55 a.m. Tuesday after some hot spots in the debris flared up. Fire crews say the fire is out and that it is still under investigation.
No one was injured by the fires.
