Who's next on Iowa men's recruiting front? Hatchett, Williams, Alexander?
Feb. 12, 2010 10:53 am
The recruiting rumor mill already has started to swirl with Anthony Tucker's replacements, now that he has been released from his Iowa scholarship.
The first is Kaylon Williams, a Cedar Rapids Kennedy graduate and sophomore at Kirkwood Community College. Williams, a 6-foot-3 point guard, led the Missouri Valley Conference in assists last year for Evansville (Ind.) before transferring to Kirkwood. He's sat behind the Iowa bench at several games this season.
Williams recently scored 21 points against Ellsworth. He was booted from practice for violating team rules earlier this season but has regrouped.
Another possibility is Kurt Alexander, a 6-foot-2 sophomore guard at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, hails from Toronto. He scored 43 points against Kirkwood.
Scott County Central (Mo.) High School point guard Bobby Hatchett also has generated significant buzz, partly because of his electric dunking ability. Hatchett, who stands 5-foot-11, led his school to the Class 1 state title last year.
There's also discussions that Iowa may try to grab a post player as well.
