More wetlands could reduce flooding, damage

It is apparent that flooding is a major problem for our state every year, which creates an many problems for our city. Studies reveal that with more wetlands present in a watershed
(15 percent to 30 percent of the area), floodwater peaks are 60 percent lower compared to areas with little to no wetlands. With more wetlands in our area, we could reduce flooding and the damage caused.
