UNI moves on with 55-40 win over Drake

Northern Iowa stifled Drake defensively for the game's last 30 minutes in securing a 55-40 Missouri Valley Conference men's basketball tournament quarterfinal win Friday afternoon at the Scottrade Center.
Drake led 24-13 with 7:59 left in the first half, but went the next 21 minutes without a basket. UNI scored the last 10 points of the first half to cut its deficit to 24-23, then dominated the second half. The Panthers had a 33-3 run at one point.
UNI's record improved to 26-4. The Panthers will play the winner of this afternoon's Bradley-Creighton game in an MVC semifinal Saturday at 1:35 p.m. Drake finished its season with a 14-19 record, with three of its losses coming to UNI.
