IOWA CITY - The Iowa City school board has pushed back its timetable for deciding how to change school boundaries.
When the process, known as redistricting, started last fall, the board initially expected to consider boundary scenarios in late February and to pick a plan in late March.
A 38-person committee has been meeting since November to develop two or three plans for the school board to choose from. But that committee has added a couple of extra meetings, and a recent meeting was postponed because too many committee members would have been absent.
Now, the committee will meet March 24 and possibly March 30. The committee also may have another forum to get feedback from the public, Superintendent Lane Plugge said.
The school board is expected to make a decision before the end of the school year. However, none of the redistricting changes will take effect next school year, Plugge said.
