Gov. Chet Culver announced that affordable housing projects throughout the state will receive more than $2.2 million in I-JOBS money.
The money will go through the state's Affordable Housing Program, which has a $20 million mandate to build or rehabilitate housing for the state's elderly, disabled and low income residents.
The Affordable Housing Network in Cedar Rapids will get $1.15 million to help rehab 25 flood-impacted homes through the Block by Block program.
The City of Davenport will receive $350,000 and Iowa City will receive $250,000 to help in acquiring five single-family homes near the University of Iowa.
Culver's I-JOBS initiative is a three-year program that has committed $830 million to various initiatives including flood recovery, affordable housing and improving state transportation.
