Calloway the 6th Hawkeye picked in NFL draft
Apr. 24, 2010 2:42 pm
Former Iowa tackle Kyle Calloway became the sixth former Hawkeye picked in the NFL draft this year. The Buffalo Bills picked Calloway with the ninth pick in the seventh round (216 overall)
Calloway (6-foot-6, 322 pounds) started 37 of Iowa's last 38 games, missing only one because of a suspension following a drunken driving arrest.
"A mean, tough right tackle blocker," NFL Network analyst Charles Davis said about Calloway. Davis said Calloway may transition to guard.
Iowa's selections before Calloway include: tackle Bryan Bulaga (first round, Green Bay); linebacker Pat Angerer (second round, Indianapolis); cornerback Amari Spievey (third round, Detroit); tight end Tony Moeaki (third round, Kansas City); and linebacker A.J. Edds (fourth round, Miami).
Iowa's six picks are the most for the school since 1976, when the Hawkeyes had seven selected. But two of those picks were for Tampa Bay in its initial expansion draft.
