Officials announce road closures, partial closure of Collins Road

City officials closed the westbound curb side and turning lane on Collins Road NE from Council Street to the Chili's Bar & Grill located at 1250 Collins Road Tuesday afternoon. The sudden shutdown was prompted by a water main break that will take roughly three days to fix.

Drivers in southeast Cedar Rapids will have to be on the lookout too. Starting at 7 a.m., Wednesday, April 28, city crews will close the intersections of 30th Street SE and 14th Avenue and Karen Drive and 14th Avenue SE for concrete work. Officials say drivers will need to seek an alternative route for at least a week.

In northwest Cedar Rapids, sewer crews will have shutdown the 1100 block of O Avenue by 7 a.m., Wednesday, April 28. City officials say the work on the block's sewer tap will take approximately three days to complete.
