IOWA CITY (AP) - The president of the University of Iowa says she will recommend faculty members receive a pay raise of 2 percent next fiscal year.
University president Sally Mason said Tuesday during a presentation to the school's Faculty Senate that she plans to propose the increase Thursday while meeting with the Iowa State Board of Regents. She says the raise would also apply to professional and scientific staff and would apply to fiscal year 2011.
This fiscal year the school has been under a salary freeze. The school's Faculty Senate president Ed Dove says he thinks faculty members will view the proposed raise as reasonable in difficult economic times.
