Respect the value of water as a resource
The Gazette Opinion Staff
May. 3, 2010 12:32 am
After the air we depend on for breathing, water is our next most precious resource. Every day we all use many gallons of water, especially our local industries, and worldwide industries have realized their impact on the water supply and have reduced their use dramatically, not from an economic viewpoint, because water is “cheap,” but because in many places it is a scarce resource.
To demean its value by using it as a revenue-enhancement vehicle is an insult to its true value. If you had to choose between gas, electric or water utilities, which one's absence do you think would affect your life the most? It is time to re-evaluate our opinion of water.
