BILLING BOO-BOO: The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics reported an $11 million mistake in patient billing. A recent audit turned up the problem - some bills in the heart and vascular center weren't sent out, beginning in November. Hospital officials are investigating what caused the mistake - human error or otherwise - and a new computer management system is part of the review. All missing billings were eventually sent out.

ENFORCEABLE? 20 feet, 10 feet, 15 feet. Those are the respective distances from ATMs, mobile vendors and buildings, and crosswalks or other solicitors that panhandlers would have to maintain when asking for money in the Iowa City downtown - according to a proposed ordinance passed Tuesday on first reading by the City Council. Oh, and in the Pedestrian Mall, all soliciting would be banned - except for a small strip of space. Got it?

LEADER OUT: Mike Sullivan resigned as executive director of the Johnson County Communications Center after being arrested on a drunken-driving charge. The county sheriff and Iowa City police chief are covering things in the interim.
