Milwaukee, WI – The Cedar Rapids Kernels broke open a scoreless game with four runs in the sixth inning to take the first game of a three game series against the Wisconsin Timber Ratters by the score of 6-1 in front of 12,667 fans at Miller Park. Kernels starter Orangel Arenas (2-4) scattered four hits and struck out six over 7 IP for the win.
Luis Jimenez drove in two runs with a triple in the sixth inning to give the Kernels a 2-0 lead. Randal Grichuk and Casey Haerther were both 2-4 with an RBI as Grichuk had a triple and Haerther added a double. Mike Trout extended his hitting streak to 12 games, going 2-5 with a stolen base.
