Weak government would hurt us in crisis

As we watched the floodwaters pour into Nashville, we couldn't help but think back over Iowa's experience.
One of the major pluses we have had over the past two years is Rep. Dave Loebsack, D-Iowa, fighting for victims of the floods here in the 2nd District. Loebsack has put a huge amount of time and effort into getting the federal assistance to the people and places most in need. The federal government sometimes can be frustrating with all its red tape. Loebsack has done his best to cut through that and get the job done.
I also wonder what would have happened had we had a Tea Party-type member representing our district. When you spend your time trying to undercut the workings of government, chances are when help is needed - it won't be there.
From what I have seen of his potential opponents, all would weaken the government's ability to respond to crises.
