Communication center board OK's severance for former director

IOWA CITY – The board that oversees the Johnson County joint emergency communication center has OK'd a severance agreement with the center's former executive director.
The center's policy board voted 7-0 Monday night to accept the agreement, interim Executive Director Tom Jones said. The board is made up of officials from Johnson County, Iowa City, Coralville and North Liberty.
Sullivan, who resigned as executive director after his drunken driving arrest in April, will receive his full salary and benefits through July 31
He also will be reimbursed the cost of COBRA health insurance premiums, the board will not challenge any application for unemployment benefits, and Sullivan will release all claims against the board and the city of Iowa City, according to the agreement.
Sullivan's annual salary was $82,514.
